03 Aug Steak Pasty Wins Again at Great Taste Awards
Chunk have been entering the Great Taste Awards since 2009 and have won an award every year.
We now have 24 Great Taste Awards across a range of our products. Our awesome Steak Pasty (we can’t claim the name Cornish Pasty as it’s handmade in Devon) has won at The Great Taste Awards for the past 9 years. No Cornish Pasty has done this and we’re not aware of any other product that has achieved this – so we have asked the Guild to see if they can find out.
We have to also mention two of our best pies. The Homity hasn’t been entered to any awards for the past few years. Although a much loved pie and one of our best sellers we though we’d put into the awards this year. It’s proved itself and won a fabulous 2 GOLD STAR award…and our winter pie the Venison & Port Pie with bacon and juniper berries has also won a Gold Star.
Both the Steak Pasty and the Homity Pie are available all year, whilst the Venison & Port Pie is available from the autumn and through the winter.

The Great Taste Awards are organised by the Guild of Fine Food and is the acknowledged benchmark for fine food and drink. It has been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world and the ‘epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize’. Quite simply the Great Taste logo is the sign you can trust when buying food and drink in your local, quality retailer.
In 2018 over 500 judges, including specially trained food writers inputting judges’ comments, came together at 65 judging days from March through to early July. Judging took place at Guild HQ in Dorset and at their office, event and judging venue close to Borough Market, London.
Judges come from all corners of the food world and blind-taste in teams of 3 or 4 ensuring a balance of expertise, age and gender.
Well done team Chunk!
