Christmas dinner is the highlight of the year for many! The best bits (aside from the terrible cracker jokes!) have got to be all the extra dishes crammed onto the table. We’re celebrating two of the best trimmings again this year and we’ve put them in pies.
This delightful nutty veg is a staple during the festive period but you may want to eat them with every meal when you find out some of its health benefits! Just 26g of this wonderful green veg provides 5g of fibre and 5g of protein. Sprouts contain high levels of vitamin A, folic acid and dietary fibre, and can help protect against colon and stomach cancer. An 80g serving of sprouts (about 8 sprouts) contains four times more vitamin C than an orange. All hail the super sprout!
Pigs in Blankets
Pigs in blankets, devils on horseback, kilted sausages, or wiener winks. Whatever you call them, they’re wonderful things! Beloved by Brits, there’s something special about chipolatas wrapped in bacon. The first written record of pigs in a blanket occurs in Betty Crocker's Cooking for Kids in 1957. It is estimated that over 128 million pigs in blankets are eaten on Christmas Day alone!
Pigs in Blankets Pies
We’ve bunged all the Christmas dinner gems into this pie 🙌 Roasted pigs, a layer of stuffing a few little roasted potatoes. We love this one…It’s Piggin’ awesome!
We think this humble veg is totally deserving of its own dish! This really special bake won a Gold Award at the Taste of the West Awards this year 🏅 Nutty sprouts cooked with bacon lardons are a taste sensation! Think bubble & squeak but packed into tasty shortcrust pastry with a delicious cheesy sauce.
Our Pigs in Blankets pie and Sprout Pie are available in a festive box of 8 or individually in the Create your Own Selection section of our website. Last year we underestimated how many pies were needed and they sold out in a flash – we’ve made sure there are more available this year but order early so you don’t miss out! They'll be dispatched from November 24th and with you shortly after.
