Why Turkey and Venison Rule the Christmas Table
Let’s start with the big birds and beasts.
Turkey has been Britain’s Christmas Day centrepiece since the 16th century, when Henry VIII decided to swap his goose for something a bit more... show-stopping. By Victorian times, it was the main event, thanks to Dickens and a few lavish feasts that set the trend!!
Venison, on the other hand, is as old-school as it gets. Medieval banquets were overflowing with it – rich, gamey, luxurious, and seen as a feast fit for kings. Fast forward to today, and venison still brings that touch of proper indulgence to the table.
