2024: A Year of Chunky Triumphs š

Last orders for New Years are officially over. So, as we cool off our ovens until January, weāre taking a moment to reflect on 2024! It was a year of epic pies, shiny awards, and a few bittersweet goodbyes... and one of our best yet!!Ā
š¶ So buckle up for a pastry-packed stroll through the highs (and a couple of lows) of the past 12 months...Ā
1ļøā£Ā January: New Year, New Golds
2ļøā£Ā February: Itās a Duckinā Revolution!
Chinese New Year brought the debut of our exciting newĀ Duckinā Pie! A rich, blend ofĀ marinated and shredded duck, spices,Ā stir fried veg, together in a hoisin style sauceĀ šĀ This little beauty didnāt just satisfy your cravings for something different; it also set us up for a strong showing at the yearās pie awards seasonĀ š
Meanwhile,Ā we were alsoĀ working behind the scenes to perfect your Valentineās Day orders! (Because nothing says love like deliciously golden pastry)Ā ā¤ļø
3ļøā£Ā March: The Brilliance of Brisket
March saw the launch of our Smokinā Brisket Pie.Ā AĀ smoky beef brisket, rubbed withĀ chocolate and coffee in a smokyĀ BBQ sauce for a real depth ofĀ flavour Ā that quickly became a fan (and judge's) favourite!Ā
But the real stars of the month were our pies at the British Pie Awards. The Duckinā Pie and Steak Pasty shone brightĀ š taking home silver medals and cementing their legendary status in the world of pieĀ š„
It was also a month of busy kitchens as we geared up for Easter orders. Whether it was a pie for Good Friday or a stack of pasties for a countryside walk, you kept us on our toes!Ā š
4ļøā£Ā April: A Cluckin' Brilliant Month
With spring in full swing, we turned up the heat in the kitchen and introduced our Cluckinā Curry PastyĀ šĀ This kick ofĀ creamy chicken, peppers, spuds, tomatoĀ and Indian spicesĀ brought the perfect mix of boldness and comfort -Ā quickly earning a spot in your hearts (and your freezers)!!Ā āļø
On the back end, we were alreadyĀ gearing up for summer flavoursĀ in both the office and the kitchen - keeping the creative juices (and gravy) flowing well into May and June!Ā āļø
5ļøā£Ā May:Ā A Taste of Victory!
May was all about cheese, glorious cheeseĀ š§Ā We launched The Cheesy Trinity, featuring our Bacon Homity Pie, Marmite Homity Pie, and Chilli Homity Pie. Whether youāre a Marmite lover or a chilli chaser, between these bad boys there was definitely something to satisfy every craving!
Awards seasonĀ also kept us on our toes, as our creations cleaned up at theĀ Taste of the West Awards. We struck gold withĀ ourĀ Steak Pasty,Ā Duckinā Pie, a commendation for ourĀ Pigs in Blankets Pie,Ā and silvers forĀ Venison & PortĀ andĀ Smokinā Brisket!! We wereĀ absolutelyĀ buzzing with this result!!Ā š
6ļøā£Ā June: Change is in the Air
June was bittersweet, as we waved goodbye to our time on QVCĀ šĀ but also said a warm hello to a new face in the Chunk office - welcome our new Group Operations Manager, Tom!
While we kept laying the groundwork for a pie-filled summer,Ā our returningĀ Ricardo Pie kept your taste buds tinglingĀ šš“Ā AĀ classic chilli con carne recipe, with added chilli salsa and topped with crushed tortilla chips and cheese, it's a proper Chunk legend!
7ļøā£Ā July: A French Affair
Bonjour!Ā š„ July brought a touch of French sophistication to Chunk with our Taste of France collection. The Coq Au Vin PieĀ and Beef Bourguignon Pie had you dreaming of Parisian cafĆ©s and countryside feasts and perfectly coincided with the 2024 Paris Olympics!
We also said goodbye to Marc, ourĀ head chefĀ and the mastermind behind loads of your favourite pies! š But, on a brighter note, our wins at theĀ Great Taste AwardsĀ (the Oscars for Foodies!) gave us a reason to celebrate!Ā
Our Smokinā Brisket Pie snagged an award, and our Steak Pasty won its 15th consecutive award in a row!!Ā š„Ā
8ļøā£Ā August: Feeling Fancy
Summer vibes peaked in August with the launch of our Posh Fish PieĀ š Ā a creamyĀ seafood sensationĀ made up of a jumble of pollock, salmon, smoked haddock and prawns,Ā that added a little luxury to your platesĀ š„
Whether paired with a crisp white wine or enjoyed in your garden on a hot day, it was the ultimate summer treat.
9ļøā£Ā September: Autumn Comforts
As the leaves turned, we cosied up with our pub classic, theĀ Hunterās Chicken Pie. Smoky, hearty, and packed with flavour, it was autumn comfort food at its best ⨠After all, what can be better thanĀ tender chunks of chicken and smoky bacon, roasted spuds with oozing cheese and a good dollop of homemade BBQ sauce?!
And in Chunk HQ, the kitchens were buzzing as we transitioned to our Christmas planning phase - because letās face it, itās never too early to think about pie seasonĀ š
1ļøā£0ļøā£Ā October: American Pie Takes Over
October was all about bold flavours with our Taste of America collection!Ā š¦ Ā Coming up on Thanksgiving, ourĀ Cheeseburger Pie, Mac & Cheese Pie,Ā Steak & Cheese PieĀ and Big Apple Pie brought big portions and even bigger smilesĀ š¤
Plus, we celebrated another massive awards haul at the Food Drink Devon Awards! Yep, we struck goldĀ yet again (if you can believe it!) this year for ourĀ Duckinā PieĀ š¦, Cluckinā Curry PastyĀ š, and Steak PastyĀ š„©
It was also the month we welcomed a new member to the team, Holly, the new digital marketing executive and said goodbye to our finance manager, Seanš (We definitely squeezed a lot in this month, now we look back!!)
1ļøā£1ļøā£Ā November: Festive Fever
November was the official start of pie season, with the launch of our Christmas range, as well as our limited edition specials!Ā šš Overall, we released seven festive bakes to fill up your fridges with -Ā including the famousĀ Sprout and Pigs in Blankets Pies!
We also celebrated as digital marketing manager, Rosie, left to have herĀ babyĀ - congrats, Rosie!Ā š£
1ļøā£2ļøā£Ā December: Wrapping Up 2024
As we write this, weāre finishing up our busiest month yet. From Christmas orders flying out the door, to preparing for your New Yearās feasts, itās been non-stop here at Chunk HQ. And we couldn't be happier!Ā āļø
Looking Ahead: 2025 Resolutions
And just like that, we've reached the end of 2024!Ā Whatās next for us? More pies, more bold ideas, and maybe even some surprisesšÆĀ
