Our Awards Wall
Awards – We love them!
We started baking at Chunk way, way back in 2006, but it wasn’t until 2008 that we felt confident enough to put our products into awards.
Fabulous as it is to receive these gongs, a really big part for us, is the judge's feedback. The notes taken at each tasting, by the numerous (lucky chosen ones!) foodies, who rate each pie, pasty, cake, ice cream, chocolate, fudge, cheese, gin, etc. marking them out of ten, to find out who is the best of the best.
We didn't have a vast selection of pies back then, but we were pretty pleased with our Steak and Ale pie, which we’d chosen to make using the great Otter Head Ale, brewed locally to us by Otter brewery.
We were buzzing when our steak & ale pie was awarded a Bronze award. This gave us the taste for winning! Otter Head is Otter Breweries most awarded beer and one we continue to use today in our Steak and Ale pie.
This pie has gone from strength to strength over the past 17 years. Winner of several awards – British Pie, Food, Drink Devon plus more Taste of the West Awards. It remains one of our best-selling pies.
2008 also saw Chunk create a totally unique vegetarian product. A pasty like no other available at the time. The ‘Chunki Roast Veg Pasty’.
Wow, has this pasty been a success! Winner also of a bronze award at those same awards in 2008, this pasty is now winner of several British Pie awards, Great Taste, Food, Drink Devon, and as our Steak and Ale pie, one of our best sellers.
2020 and our Chunki Roast Veg Pasty (the recipe now also suitable for Vegans) was winner of yet another Gold and nominated in the Champion Vegan category by the judges at The Taste of the West Awards.
