Summing up all our AWARDS 2023
We’ve had another stonker of a year at the awards and are incredibly proud of everyone at Chunk HQ for producing pies, pasties and rolls that are next-level scrummy and absolutely award-worthy!
We started the year off nicely when we went and won the Vegan Category Award at the British Pie Awards in March with our new creamy Mushroom Stroganott Pie! Cashew nuts are blitzed to make this wonderful pie that is suitable for vegans and mushroom lovers everywhere! We were thrilled that the British Pie Awards deemed this tasty fella the best of all the Vegan entries and it continues to be one of our best-selling pies of 2023.
Then, in June we waited in anticipation of more news, this time from the Taste of The West Awards. 4 Golds!! Our famous Steak Pasty grabbed another, along with the Chicken, Mushroom and Tarragon, Steak & Kidney (the marmite of the pie world - you either love it or hate it!) and the Steak, Stilton and Mushroom (another polarising pie!). All in all, a nice little haul!
Next, it was The Great Taste Awards in August, or the Foodie Oscars as we call them. This is a prestigious affair where the food celebrities of the nation are pipped against each other. We were delighted (and mightily relieved!) that our good old Steak Pasty won yet another star this year – that’s 14 back-to-back awards which is unprecedented!
Our Mushroom Stroganott took to the stage again, winning a 2-star award. These special winners (less than 10% of entries) are described as “Outstanding: Above and beyond delicious” by The Great Taste Awards.
Finally, Simon and Suzi got dolled up to attend the Food Drink Devon awards in October, a lovely local affair (but still a big deal!). We’re proud to stand among the hordes of exceptional Devon producers. Here, we bagged another 7 gongs to cram onto our wall. Simon and Suzi bundled onto the stage with the other winners brandishing the new certificates (look for the two tall people at the back juggling all the awards!).
I’ll give you one guess who bagged another Gold at this year's Food Drink Devon… That’s right, it’s the awesome Steak Pasty, along with our vegan Cheatin' Cheeze pasty and the Spicy Jack Pie. We also bagged several silvers for the Steak Stilton & Mushroom, Steak & Kidney, the Veggie Tagine and yet again the Mushroom Stroganott who impressed another panel of judges.
We can’t complain that all our hard work goes unrecognised! The Chunk motto of producing natural, tasty pies and pasties that exceed expectations continues to be at the heart of what we do. Every piece of feedback we receive gets fed back to the kitchen and we scrutinise through thorough tasting and recipe tweaks when needed.
